Earth Science Week 1 Wednesday Part 1

Questions:

1. Describe the pros/cons of surface mining. Think of at least 1 pro and 1 con.
2. What was the article you received yesterday about?
3. What surprises you most about fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas)?

Instructions for Superfund Sights Research

1. Select an AML/NPL site. 
2. Go to the website: https://www.epa.gov/superfund/superfund-national-priorities-list-npl and locate your AML/NPL site.
3. Click on the link to read about your site and complete the table and analysis questions.
4. Search a little offsite, as necessary, to help understand the information (i.e., unfamiliar terms or health problems associated with certain contaminants, etc.)
5. Make a poster of all your information. Make it neat, use color and font size to emphasize information. 

Some helpful hints:

·     The summaries you write for the table should be 2–3 sentences long.

·     Most information should be readily available on your website’s opening page or by clicking the link on the right side called “More In-Depth Site Details (EPA Regional Content).”

o   If different ways exist to access pertinent information about your particular site, then they were mentioned on the sign-up sheet (“Info Assess Details”).
