Health and Homeostasis Week 4 Thursday Sub Plan

Do Now: Choose 2-3. Fill your do now box.
1. How would you describe a hormone cascade? What structures are involved? What are the causes? Effects?
2. What hormone or gland do you think is most important to maintaining homeostasis? Explain your thinking.
3. What makes the endocrine system different from other body systems? Do you think it is more complex or more simple than others? Explain your thinking.

  • Next week we will do a gallery walk of your OnePagers so your classmates can compare and contrast your thinking to their own.

Cells Week 3 Monday Sub Plans

  1. Do Now Questions: Choose 4-5 prompts total. Fill BOTH of your do now boxes! (2-3 questions per do now box)
    1. Describe the labs you conducted last week. What was the purpose of these labs?
    2. How would you describe the labs to a friend or classmate? What words would be most important to use? What would be the most difficult part for you to explain?
    3. Do your lab results make sense? Are they valid? Is there a scientific reason you got the results you did or did you have errors? 
    4. What are some possible sources of error from these labs? How could these errors affected your data?
    5. If you were to do these labs again, what would you do differently in your process? Explain your thinking.
    6. How do you think your results compared/contrasted to those of your classmates? Give at least 1 way they were similar and one way they differed.

1. First, finish working on labs from last week--both the cell size and dialysis tubing lab. Complete the graph (remember this will be a line graph) for the dialysis tubing lab and answer the analysis questions. You should have at least 1 word from the language board in each box. 
2. Both sides of your dialysis tubing lab (all boxes) should be complete.
3. If you were absent see the sub to get a handout and a classmate to get data. 
4. Second, choose one of the labs--either cell size or dialysis tubing to create a lab poster.
5. Get a lab poster template handout and a blank piece of paper from the sub.
6. There are examples of what a final lab poster should look like hanging below the cabinets near the back of the room. These are due today! (no other class time will be given). You should have at least 1 word from the language board in each box.
7. If you finish early, work on any unfinished work you may have from the previous weeks.
